As Dussehra, Halloween, and Diwali draw near, India’s hospitality industry is embracing a new wave of guest expectations. Planet Hollywood, Thane City, is curating dining experiences that balance tradition, health, and authenticity. Explore the special dine‑in events crafted by the hotel just for this festive season.

As this year’s festive season unfolds, India’s hospitality sector is all set to cater to diverse palates with specialities that reflect South Asian cultural richness and variety.
With Dussehra, Halloween, and Diwali celebrations on the way, this year, hotels and restaurants are adapting to shifting guest expectations as their dining-out expectations on these occasions are no longer limited to indulgence. Today’s domestic and international visitors seek healthier, authentic options that preserve the festive spirit while offering something unique to devour.
To meet this demand, chefs are reimagining traditional Indian ingredients such as singhara (water chestnuts) flour, samak rice, and more, which were once just part of the Indian fasting menu, infusing them with creativity and finesse.
Planet Hollywood, Thane City, exemplifies this shift. Kamlesh Patil, Executive Chef, Planet Hollywood, Thane City, notes the growing appetite for festival‑focused dining experiences, allowing them to design exclusive festive menus and tailored offers.

He mentions that this year, the hotel has curated customised festive menus such as Bhoj Bangla, Dussehra Dinner, and Diwali Special Brunch. These menus, while not strictly fasting-oriented, reflect a broader evolution, best for guests who now value cultural resonance, thoughtful presentation, and variety as much as flavour.
In fact, today’s diners are also extremely particular about the ingredients that go into their desserts as well. Patil highlights the growing preference for balanced sweetness and quality ingredients. He suggests that natural alternatives such as dates, fruit-based sweeteners and monk fruit can help chefs create more nuanced desserts while allowing the core flavours and textures to remain the focus. “We are also seeing a greater emphasis on portion sizes, ingredient integrity and lighter interpretations of traditional mithai, without compromising the sense of indulgence that is integral to festive celebrations,” he concludes.
The modern diner seeks festive occasions that feel both familiar and memorable, where tradition and innovation unite to tell a story of celebration and everyday Indian dining culture.
