Speaking at an event, KR Naidu, Aviation Minister, India, said, “The government plans to develop 100 more airports over the next decade under the extended UDAAN scheme. As part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, we aim to build a network of more than 350 airports by 2047.”
He mentioned that the country has expanded its airport network from 74 airports in 2014 to 166 today, highlighting the sector’s growth. He added that the expanding connectivity to tier-II and tier-III destinations will help local products reach larger domestic and international markets. The initiative is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, support local economies, and create new opportunities for businesses and producers across smaller cities.
